Stunning 24-hour view of the sky

That's an image produced by Chris Kotsiopoulos from photographs he took over a 30-hour period near Athens, Greece. Here's some more information on how this stunning image was made.
After many, many hours in the cold and in the darkness one of the most challenging parts is not to kick the tripod!
Here is a task for you. The circles at the top of the page are made by the movement of the stars in the night sky. Without clicking the links, or doing any further research, can you identify the star that made the innermost circle? You don't need to know a lot of astronomy, basic geography is enough.
